2nd Europe's Photo Contest

European Photo Contest: Focus on risk prevention

The second EU-OSHA photo competition challenges photography enthusiasts across Europe – both professional and amateur – to once more pick up their cameras and capture their image of safety and health in the workplace. This year the competition invites entrants to picture how risk prevention is viewed by people throughout the EU27 and beyond, with the chance to win a top prize of €3,000.

The Competition

This pan-European photo competition is organised by EU-OSHA to promote awareness on healthy workplaces and risk prevention at work. The Agency’s mission is "to make Europe's workplaces safer, healthier and more productive“.

The competition challenges everyone to capture their own image of safety and health at work, with a special focus on risk prevention. An international jury welcomes photographic imagination and creativity and values especially photographs that draw attention to the positive aspects of risk prevention at work.

The three best photographs are selected according to their creativity and originality, as well as universal European appeal. This year for the first time there will be a special Youth Prize for participants under 21 years of age! Take a look at the best 13 photos from 2009 for inspiration.

The deadline for submission of entries is 31st August 2011.

2nd Europe's Photo Contest Prizes

* 1st Prize: €3,000
* 2nd Prize: €2,000
* 3rd Prize: €1,000
* Youth Prize: €1,000

Prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding photographs in terms of artistic value and best embracing the competition topic.

The contest consists of two rounds of evaluation for the first three prizes. In round one, each judge in a panel of photographic experts will select ten photographs in each category from among all eligible entries. They will make these selections based on the quality of each photograph and the creativity it displays. The entries selected in round one will be put forward to round two. In round two, the judges will collectively select a first, second and third place winner based on the same criteria.

An additional youth prize will be awarded to the best entrant aged under-21.

Winners will be chosen in September 2011, and notified by email. Decisions of the judges are final and binding. The winners will be announced at the EU-OSHA Healthy Workplaces Campaign Closing Event to be held in Bilbao, on the 22nd and 23rd November 2011.
