#design #contest all contest - Design Dining Chair Contest

Design a chair with materials of $50 or less. Build the chair. Drop the chair off at 20 Jay St. from Friday May 18th – Sunday May 20th. Total material cost must be at or below $50. (You will need to attach your materials receipts to the chair for verification.) Finalist designs will be used to seat esteemed guests practicing in art and architecture during the SUPERFRONT gala dinner May 22nd.

Winner receives $500 prize. Chaired by architect and theorist Keller Easterling, the competition jury includes architect Mark Gardener of Jaklitsch / Gardener Architects, Paul Miller (DJ Spooky), and other visionary artists and designers.

The chair competition winner will be announced at the SUPERFRONT gala at 9pm Tuesday 5/22 and online the following day (Wednesday 5/23).

Register via gala[at]superfront.org with “$50 chair” in the subject heading and your name in the body of the email to receive further details, including the studio number and hours of access for your entry drop off. There is no fee to enter for this competition. You must register by Friday May 18th.
