Theatre Festival: Cover HighTide Festival in Halesworth, Suffolk

annual theatre festival in UK - Theatre Festival: Cover HighTide Festival in Halesworth, Suffolk

The brilliant HighTide theatre company is currently gearing up for its fifth annual theatre festival, which is held in Halesworth, Suffolk between 28 April and 8 May.

Fancy going along to the festival and reporting back to our magazine with a 500-word review? Then this is the brief for you. We're looking for an IdeasTap member to cover the festival on the weekend of 7/8 May – so make sure you're free to attend. Entries will be judged on writing skills and a demonstrated interest in new theatre.

HighTide was one of our Ideas Fund Edinburgh winners last year, with the critically acclaimed play Lidless. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, winning rave reviews, a Fringe First award and some decidedly A-list patrons (Sam Mendes, Stephen Daldry, Sir Richard Eyre et al). Read an article about the work they've been doing at IdeasTap HQ.

HighTide festival is showcasing four new plays:

Stephen Belber's Dusk Rings A Bell – a new American play about a revisted teenage romance

Former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion's debut play Incoming, which is about the war in Afghanistan

Nicked – a musical retelling of how the coalition government came into power, written by Richard Marsh and Natalia Sheppard

Adam Brace's new play Midnight Your Time, starring Diana Quick

Please note – accommodation expenses will be paid, but the winner will have to arrange their own travel. To apply, click on the "How to Respond" tab.
