US Call for Entries Photography

The LH Horton Jr Gallery is a non-profit art gallery located on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California. The Gallery provides excellent exhibition opportunities, with over 2000 square feet of exhibition space, an extended 22 ft. ceiling with mounts, and over 1200 visitors to each exhibition.

2011 Call for Entries

On-Line Entry Process

1. All Calls for Entry submissions are processed on-line by clicking on the link: Smarter Entry
2. All artwork images are viewed anonymously by the juror announced for each exhibition. Until the final artist selection is made, accepted artists’ names and contact information is held confidential by the Gallery Director administering the calls.
3. When entering on-line, please use the Process Notes section to include the following information: materials, dimensions, weight (3D only) and any additional work process or technique methods.
4. Images may be added, exchanged, or removed up until the very last day of the call deadline.
5. Each exhibition call lists specific eligibility guidelines and information, and all calls for entries have the same general guidelines listed after the individual exhibition calls.
6. Payment of entry fees and submission of images for judging signifies the artist’s understanding and acceptance of all terms and conditions of the call for entry general guidelines and for the corresponding exhibition.
7. Fees are non-refundable unless the exhibition is cancelled by the Gallery.
8. Artists are not registered for the call for entry until fees are paid.

Exhibition Title: Photography 2011: Portraiture

Awards: Exhibition at the LH Horton Jr Gallery and on the Gallery's website. Best of Show: $600, 2nd Place: $400, 3rd Place: $300

Eligibility: Entry is open to all artists residing in the United States. Work made in all photographic processes, both traditional and digital, are accepted for entry. Representational or non-representational images of the human figure. Fine art images should emphasize unique composition, pattern, shape, and color/contrast. Framed photographs may not exceed 42" width and 60" height.

Exhibition Dates: November 17– December 14, 2011

Opening Reception: November 17th, 5-7pm

Juror: Chuck Mobley is San Francisco Camerawork's Associate Director of Exhibitions, Publications and Programs, and editor of SF Camerawork Publications. He has written for Art on Paper; Contemporary; Camerawork: A Journal of Photographic Arts; and Sculpture magazines, as well as SFMOMA's Open Space blog and Berkeley Art Museum's Blook blog, and recently contributed an essay to the monograph Signal Fires: El cine de Jem Cohen (Punto de Vista, 2010). He has curated (and co-curated) numerous exhibitions, including Traces of life on the thin film of longing; There is always a machine between us; Katsushig Nakahashi: The Depth of Memory; Past is an image we form in the present; I feel from Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also a co-founder of Right Window, an artist and curator's project space in San Francisco's Mission District.

Entry Fee: $30 for 3 work entries. An additional 3 work entries may be purchased for $5 per image.
