1. By entering the competition the entrant verifies that he/she has read the rules and agrees to abide by them.

2. The photography competition will run from June 1 2011 until August 31 2011. Shortlisted entrants of the competition will be notified by October 3 2011. The winner will be announced on this website (www.The-Latest.Com) and the Time Out magazine and website and elsewhere shortly after the October 3 2011.

3. The photography competition is open to entrants from the UK and abroad.

4. Entrants must not be professional photographers and, for the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.

5. You can enter by sending your picture taken with a mobile phone in JPEG format file to competition@cjet.co.uk. Please ensure that your file size is not greater than 1mb. Your email must have "PHOTO ENTRY" and your name in the subject line. Please include your address, your telephone number (both daytime and evening), location of where the photograph was taken and any relevant or interesting information about the photograph in your email.

6. Each entrant may enter up to three photographs for consideration by the competition judges.

7. The competition is not open to anyone involved in the running of this competition, or their immediate family members.

8. If you are under the age of 16 you must obtain your parent or guardian's written permission before entering the competition.

9. Images may be digitally enhanced to remove spots or scratches but not manipulated. Entrants can enhance the picture to make it brighter, clearer etc but not manipulate the content. The Citizen Journalism Educational Trust and the judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been treated so as to alter its authenticity.

10. All entries will be judged by a panel of judges. The panel will first select a long list of photographs from which they will select a shortlist of 12 (the "Finalists") which, in their opinion, best illustrate the theme of the competition. They will consider a range of factors including composition, technical ability, originality and the newsworthiness of the photographs.

11. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

12. Shortlisted competition entries will be displayed at a prominent venue to be announced.

13. If you enter the competition your photograph may be published on The-Latest.Com website and the Time Out magazine and website and may be used in publicity for the Citizen Journalism Educational Trust (CJET) and associated projects and by our sponsors in their magazine, publicity and website.

14. By submitting your photograph for entry into the competition you will retain your copyright and also hereby grant to us and our sponsors a royalty free, non-assignable, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to use the photograph for publication in connection with the competition and future competitions and promotions for CJET and The-Latest. Entrants agree to a 50 per cent share of any future royalties for publication in the open market, that CJET and The-Latest receive on their behalf acting as their agent and for exclusive use of the image for three years unless permission is granted for specific purposes agreed by all parties.

15. You warrant that any photographs you submit are your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other relevant rights in such image and you have the permission of any people identifiable in the picture. Entrants confirm that their entry is their own original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe any UK laws. The image must also not have already been professionally commissioned.

16. Your moral rights will be respected; you will be credited if your photograph is published.

17. Any commercial opportunities that arise following the publication of the submitted photograph will be notified to the photographer.

18. All personal data provided to the Citizen Journalism Educational Trust, The-Latest.Com and Time Out magazine and website or third party nominated by them in relation to this competition will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and you hereby consent to us processing all personal data for the purposes of this competition.

19. The prize is the amazing new Olympus LS-20M pocket camcorder and the title of CJET Street Photographer of the Year.

20. No cash alternative is available. The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and non-changeable.

21. You must seek written permission from all parents/guardians to take images of their child/children and the said parents/guardians must have granted permission to the Citizen Journalism Educational Trust and its partners, to use the images taken and any other reproductions or adaptations thereof either complete or in part, alone or in conjunction with any wording or imagery for all uses in Citizen Journalism Educational Trust publications, promotions or other similar material.

22. The Citizen Journalism Educational Trust reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

23. If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, the Citizen Journalism Educational Trust reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner up, or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
