* $1,500 Cash Prizes Photo Contest Deadline for current photography competition is September 15, 2011. (Winners announced by Oct. 30)

* Camera Obscura Journal Runs two competitions each year according to the following schedule:
o Entries received between Mar. 16 and Sept. 15 are entered in the Winter Competition
o Entries received between Sept. 16 and Mar 15 are entered in the Summer Competition
*Administrative cost and prizes for each are the same.

Camera Obscura Journal accepts for its photography contest any photographic-based artwork. The artwork need not consist exclusively of photography. Photography-based mixed media artworks are encouraged for submission, in addition to straight photography as long as it can be submitted electronically.

*Criteria considered in judging these photographic artworks include:
o artistic merit
o technical proficiency
o theme: Open (We're looking for the best, most visually intriguing photography we can find)

* Professional
o Prize - $1,200 cash award and publication in the Camera Obscura Journal of Literature & Photography. Selected finalists also receive publication.
o In addition, finalists receive a professional marketing template from © The Polished Photograher - worth $100.
o entry - $15 per photo.
o Professional designation: photographers who earn more than 25% of their income from photography.
o Non-professionals may also enter the professional category.

* Non-professional
o Prize - $300 cash award and publication. Finalists also receive publication.
o Entry - $10.00 per photo.

* Finalists in both categories will be selected and assessed by the photography judges who will select the winner.
