Photo Competition Published in National Geographic

Can your photo make a difference?

Is it compelling enough to spark a dialogue? Bold enough to inspire action?

We hope so. That’s why we’re launching the "Eye on Sustainability" Global Photo Contest. "Eye on Sustainability" asks you to document sustainability issues as you see them—from the stunning beautiful illustrating what’s at stake to the starkly truthful illuminating what needs to be done. And we’re looking for photos that speak to sustainability across all its pillars—social, environmental, and economic.

We’re launching this year’s contest on World Environment Day during the International Year of Forests. The most biologically diverse ecosystems on land, the world’s forests are essential to every aspect of our quality of life. Yet every day, the long-term benefits of what they provide are compromised by short-term interests. There is so much we can learn from the state of the world’s forests. But perhaps the most important thing we can take away is that now is the time to elevate the conversation and take action. So enter your photo today. It could be one of the chosen few to win a Nikon D3100 and have your photo appear in our "Eye on Sustainability" special advertising section appearing in the December issue of National Geographic magazine. Click here for full prize package.

After all, you're not just taking a picture. You're starting a dialogue.
