2011 has been designated as the Year of Czesław Miłosz, and as such it will abound in momentous events making literature an everyday experience and enhancing the status of culture in public sphere. The Year will celebrate the book itself – the word and its setting.

The ZNACZY SIĘ New Art Foundation announces the International Student Competition for Typeface ‘Milosz’.

We hope the competition will highlight the importance of the written word and the craft of typeface design.

ORGANIZERS of Young Designers Design Contest

The ZNACZY SIĘ New Art Foundation is a group of women who for the past two years have been promoting book-related events in Kraków, focusing both on the text and the graphic design. We run creative writing courses, organize meetings with outstanding artists, who share their own experiences. The exhibitions and presentations of intriguing Polish and international designers are meant to show diversity and the huge spectrum of graphic design and the way of ‘packaging’ the text.

RULES OF THE Young Designers Design Contest

The registration for the Competition is closed.

Only registered participants can submit the Competition entries.

The deadline for submitting entries for the Competition – 31 August 2011.

The winner(s) of the Competition will be announced in October 2011.

The winning typeface ‘Milosz’ along with all entries that have received honorable mentions will be exhibited at the ZNACZY SIĘ gallery in November 2011.

The winning entry will be known as typeface ‘Milosz’ and its author(s) will receive a prize of 10,000 PLN (about €2,500). The typeface will also be widely promoted and used for publishing Czesław Miłosz’s works.
