US Sustainable Development Award (Award for undergraduate students) - $65,000 IN CASH PRIZES!
Whether related to new building techniques, new chemical and petrochemical processes, alternative environmental uses or sustainable materials, projects should explore innovative practices, methods and ideas that can be implemented on a variety of real-world projects.
Students may submit entries during the award period beginning January 2, 2012 and ending May 31, 2012. Winners will be announced at an award ceremony to be held in Fall 2012.
Odebrecht and Braskem invite students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering (all areas), Architecture, Building and Construction Management or Chemistry at an accredited university in the United States and fully enrolled for the academic period in which the competition takes place.
Projects may be undertaken individually or in a group of no more than 3 students under the supervision of an Advising Professor. All students must be enrolled at the same university, and are encouraged to invite team members from other schools or departments.

Award-winning Students, Advising Professors, and University Representatives will be invited to participate of the 2012 Award Ceremony on Fall 2012 with all expenses paid. Winning ideas will also be showcased in a special supplement published by a recognized national publication.
Award winners may be invited to further develop implementation of their innovative ideas, as it is Odebrecht and Braskem's objective to use the Award as a platform for implementing sustainable business practices.
Students of the top 15 ranked projects will be invited to participate in the process to become an Odebrecht Young Partner (YP) or a Braskem Associate. YPs and Associates are offered developmental programs to experience firsthand what it is like to work for a global leader in engineering and construction; and chemicals and petrochemicals.
