What do we mean by “Amazing Story," you ask? A story that grabs us by the throat, demanding we pay attention. A story that tugs at our heartstrings. Beautiful words with a lyrical quality. A well-told tale, showing the author is a master storyteller. These are some of the elements we're looking for in an Amazing Story.
Fiction Writing Contests Guidelines
Free critique available upon request! Write “free critique” on your entry and provide either a SASE or an email address.
For optional line edit, enclose an additional $2 per page, plus 9 X 12 SASE with enough postage for returning your story.
DEADLINE: Postmarked by July 31, 2011. DO NOT SEND BY CERTIFIED MAIL.
ENTRY FEE: $10 per entry, 3 entries max. Checks payable to The Write Helper.

RULES:
· Open subject, fiction. (No pornography or gratuitous violence.)
· Unpublished, original work.
· 4,000 words or fewer.
· Standard manuscript formatting.

Fiction International is hosting a fiction writing contest in Spring 2011. The Fiction International fiction writing contest theme is Blackness and is intended to give exposure to writers who have no more than two published books. Entries will be read by Fiction International editors, with the top 20 entries read by FI editor Harold Jaffe. The winning submission will be published in the 2012 volume of Fiction International and the author will be awarded a $1000 cash prize.
Submission period: February 1, 2011 - June 1, 2011
Winner will be announced Fall 2011.
