Better Homes and Gardens Prize Tested Recipes® July 2011 Contest Official Rules

CONTEST: The July 2011 Prize Tested Recipes Contest features two (2) recipe categories - The July 2011 Prize Tested Recipes Contest features two (2) recipe categories - ?Spicy Main Dishes? and ?Ice Cream, Sherbet, and Sorbet? - (each a "Category"). Contest begins on November 1, 2010, and ends on December 24, 2010. At the conclusion of the contest, judges will select three (3) winners: one (1) winner per Category and one (1) Mixing Bowl People's Choice Award winner.

THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO ENTER: 1) By Mail: Send entries by postal mail to: 0411 Food Dept., Better Homes and Gardens® magazine, Des Moines, IA 50309-3023. All mailed entries must be neatly written or typed. Entries submitted by mail must be postmarked on or before December 24, 2010, and received by December 31, 2010. 2) Email: Submit the entry information required below in an e-mail to PTR@meredith.com. Entries submitted by e-mail must be received by 11:59 p.m., CT on December 31, 2010. 3) MixingBowl.com: Enter at www.MixingBowl.com/grp/BetterHomesandGardensPrizeTestedRecipesContest by submitting an original recipe in either category, along with a photo of the prepared dish. Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., CT on December 31, 2010.

ELIGIBILITY: Entrants must be legal U.S. residents (excluding Puerto Rico), and 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust Street, Des Moines, IA 50309 ("Sponsor"), and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion of the contest and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliate and successor companies and members of their immediate families or persons residing at the same address are not eligible to enter.

ENTRIES: For each Category entered, create your original recipe. Multiple entries are allowed, but each recipe must be submitted as a separate entry and each entry must meet the following requirements:

A recipe may be submitted in either of the two (2) monthly Categories. Write or type on each entry the Category you wish to enter. Each recipe may only be submitted for judging in one Category. Multiple entries may be submitted in the same envelope or email.

Recipe entries must be created by the entrant and cannot have been previously published, won another competition or contest, or been used for advertising or promotional purposes.

Entry must: (1) include recipe name and the number of servings that the recipe yields, (2) use ingredients that are available in most grocery stores; (3) list ingredients with measurements in order of use; (4) include step-by-step preparation and cooking directions; (5) for mail and e-mail entries, please include: entrant name, age and complete address with zip code, telephone number with area code and e-mail (optional), and (6) MixingBowl.com entries must include a photo of the prepared recipe.

WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZES OF COOKING COMPETITIONS: All eligible entries will be judged by a qualified panel of judges appointed by Sponsor to select one (1) Category Winner for each Category based on creativity (30%), taste (40%), and practicality (30%). In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score in Practicality will be a winner. Each Category Winner will receive a $500 check. One prize per household. In addition, one (1) Mixing Bowl People's Choice Award winner will be determined from among all eligible entries received on MixingBowl.com. From August 15, 2010, through September 23, 2010, at 11:59 p.m., C.T. visitors to the MixingBowl.com site may vote for the entry they consider the most appealing in either category. One vote per person (with a valid e-mail address) per day. The entry receiving the highest number of votes will be the Mixing Bowl People?s Choice Award winner and will receive a $250 check. In the event of a tie, judges will determine the winner based on creativity (30%), taste (40%), and practicality (30%). Potential winners will be notified and prizes will be delivered approximately thirty (30) days from date of winner verification. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portions thereof) of equal or greater value if prize (or portions thereof) cannot be awarded as described. Sponsor will determine all elements of prizing in its sole discretion. Prizes may not be assigned, transferred or changed, except at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Prizes are awarded ?as is? with no warranty or guarantee express or implied by Sponsor. Sponsor disclaims all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third party product or service accepted by the winners. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if any winner fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide required documentation, is found to have violated the Official Rules or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the entry with the next highest score. Entrants understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this promotion and acceptance, possession and use of prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize. Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all respects.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Except where prohibited, by participating Contest entrants agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant(s) and Sponsor and its agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Entrant agrees that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York and entrant hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Contest but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. OTHER: Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries or votes it is unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, illegible, stolen or lost entries or votes. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the voting process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of these Official Rules. Sponsor further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention, force majeure or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or integrity of the contest. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry systems or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the contest is prohibited. In the event of a dispute regarding an online entry, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry.

RELEASE: By entering, entrants authorize the Sponsor to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in promotional material and for advertising, public relations and editorial purposes worldwide, in perpetuity, or on a winners' list, if applicable, without further compensation unless prohibited by law. Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above-mentioned information or materials, but may but may do so, at Sponsor's sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.

Except where prohibited by law, potential winners will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership/Liability Release, Publicity Release and Assignment of All Rights in Pre-Existing Work within ten (10) days of notification or the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. By participating and winning a prize, winners release Sponsor, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the contest.
