Since the invention of the animated gif in 1987 the moving image became a well spread fact on the Internet. A simple 8 bit per pixes movie clip with a limited 256 color palette makes it easy to distribute and load. On the way they lost some popularity by the possibility to spread high quality video’s due to the increasing speed of Internet. Today, more and more the gif is experiencing an upraise in popularity and even entering the field of Art.

The animated gif was invented in 1987, which makes us wonder if there is a gif today still looping since then. Seeing there is no record of the longest playing gif, this competition and exhibition will mark the start of the loop.

ASSIGNMENT of Good Animated Gif Contest
Make an animated gif in a circle of exactly 250 x 250 px. Everything else will not be accepted, so no squares, triangles, trapeziums or circles of 249 px.

Good Animated Gif Contest REWARD
As reward for your submission and time spend on making a nice and original gif we can promise you that a big selection of animated GIF’s will be shown in an exhibition, and maybe more. Seeing this competition as more of an experiment, possible rewards can grow, maybe a publication will appear.

Good Animated Gif Contest DEADLINE
The competition remains open until we have received 1000 gif animations.It’s an open competition, and all entries will be put online as soon as we receive and process them. The jury is you, trough the voting system all viewers can vote for their favourite GIF. It is also possible that there will be exhibitions during the competition. The first exhibition is planned for November 2011 so if you want to make it for the exhibition send in your entry on time.

DELLIVERY
